For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. – 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 (NIV)
Every day we face battles. Some of them can be minor skirmishes while others can be full-blown assaults. No matter what type of battle you are in sooner or later you come to a wall, an impenetrable fortress. It stands there as a barrier to your progress, preventing you from going forward and winning the battle.
For some people, the wall could be something that has been there a long time. You chip away at it but soon you turn away and look for another solution. You forget the wall exists until the next time you come up against it and you start chipping away at again. This cycle continues until you find a way to break it down, if at all.
One of the first steps to breaking down the wall is to recognise what it is. Most of the time it is a fear that has a strong hold on your life. The will to conquer it is there but you have no idea on how to go about it. We fail to remember that this type of warfare is spiritual and that we cannot fight in the flesh or the way the world does.
The answer to finding a way to break down the wall is through Jesus. Jesus has fought many spiritual battles and won. He knows what weapons you need to fight your battle and He is with you every step of the way. Even when you get discouraged, He will stay by you for however long it takes for to try again. Jesus knows that each little chip is slowly breaking down that wall and He can show where you can do the most damage.
Breaking down the wall is only half the battle. Sometimes we are exhausted from our efforts and when we look at the mountain of rubble once again the fear sets in, and we start thinking that we will never make it through. Jesus knows that you will be needing more help, and He will never leave you to face any part of the battle on our own.
It is important to remember that Jesus will also provide a way through the rubble that will take you safely over. His divine power will not only help you not only break the wall, but he will clear the way to help you get safely to the other side. Rubble is the leftover remnants of the wall, something that can be cleared away easily. It is something you will forget about as soon as you get over or through it.
Even if you don’t know what your strongholds are, Jesus will provide you with an answer and show you what it is. Together you will break down any strongholds that are stopping you. Jesus will clear the rubble, all the while never leaving you or forsaking you as you move onwards towards victory.
