But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him” – 1 Corinthians 2:9
From the day we are born until the day we die, we partake in a journey of discovery that can lead to a fulfilled life. We have no idea of what we will be doing or where we will be going from one year to the next. We can make plans but sometimes our choices or events that are not in our control can derail them and we must make new plans or amend the old ones.
Making plans is something that is inbred. It’s a part of who we are as humans as most of us want something that is definite – something we can work towards. The hopes and wishes we have for our lives are usually limited to our own knowledge and experience. If we dream of a future that involves something that is beyond our grasp or abilities, we will push it aside and stick to what we know. In the end, we just settle for our lot in life, never to reach our full potential. Eventually, we may come to regret the missed opportunities and/or our failures because we realise, we could have done and been more.
Who we become and what we do is not only something we plan for, it something that can just happen. Family and friends influence what we do and if they have a preconceived idea of who and what we should be, then they will seek to steer our lives in that direction. Most of the time it is done out of love and subconsciously but it is still based on what they see and know. For them to imagine that you can be more than who you already are can be hard. Therefore, we need to look to someone who knows what we are capable of doing because He designed us that way.
God has plans for you that are more than you can ever imagine, and it is tailor-made just for you. He does not want us to live half a life, settling for less than we should. The plans God has for us are achievable with his help because He knows that we can carry them out. Even if we can’t imagine doing something now, God will bring us around to the place where we need to be in order to make the impossible possible.
Stepping out into the unknown or doing something that scares us is a risk we sometimes have to take but with God, as our help and guide, we will do it. A life with God is full of many unique gifts and experiences which He has prepared for us. Our plans will become His plans and it will be more than we or anybody else can imagine. All we must do is commit our lives to Him and be ready for all the new things that will come our way.
