There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens – Ecclesiastes 3:1
Things end for a reason. We may not know what that reason is, but it will ultimately end. In fact, everything on this earth will end at some point. Whether it is from our own making, someone else’s, or something else entirely, the end will still come.
While it is true, we can see some endings coming, it is also true that there are some that we don’t see coming. For those we do see coming, we can prepare ourselves to make sure that we ride the change the smoothly. For those we don’t see coming, the end can be a bit of a shock. We are left with a sense of what do I do now.
When a season of our life ends, we can either grieve or see it as an opportunity and in some cases a combination of both. Grieving at the end of a season is okay but if that grieving continues for longer than it should then that’s when the problems happen. We continue to mull over it and feel lost because our sense of purpose has gone which prevents us from seeing the new season God has for us.
God lets seasons end in our lives for a reason. Not our reasons but His. He closes a door and doesn’t want to stand there staring at it – he wants you to turn around and see the new door He has opened for you. If we stand looking at the closed door of the season that has just ended for too long, we may miss the season that is waiting for us. God, even though He is patient, knows that it is not a good thing to keep that door opened forever because we don’t have forever, we just have here and now.
Every season’s end is a season just beginning in God’s plan for you. You did whatever it was you had to do during that season and now it is over. It’s time to move on. Just as the four seasons of the year are only around for a short period, so it is with the seasons of our life. No season is meant to last for a lifetime. If we stayed in one place, we would never learn and grow. Seasons in our life are supposed to give us the knowledge and experience we need to have for the next one.
When the season ends, don’t mourn it for too long. Start looking forward to the new season that is coming because that is where God wants you to be. If you can’t see the new season, then keep an eye out for any God-given opportunity that may appear. Seasons come and go but God is forever.
The next time a season ends in your life, remember that God has got you and that there is a reason why it ended. You may not know what that reason is but rest assured God does and that is all you need to know.
